Agenda 21 Evaluation of book cover
The dark and cloudy sky symbolizes the sadness and life drained out of the city. The fence represents the city functioning as a prison, trapping the citizens in. The debris on the floor symbolizes the wonderful cities that have crashed and turned into terrible living conditions.
The government controls lives. It decides when the citizens leave or go, live or die. Each monotonous day is the same laborious work. One may never know when the day will come when they will be chosen as not useful. No one has any control over their own lives, and no one is willing to fight back against the all powerful government.
This is a novel of the authority, the command, and the dominance of the government over the people. This is easily represented by the bold red hue of the letters against the dark background. It is overpowering, like the government. Citizens have no say in the way that their life is lived. The melancholy color of the sky is a perfect symbol for the powerful infliction of slavery upon the people. It can also be used to represent the unjustified power that slowly creeped over the towns and consumed the citizens. The grainy shattered sky behind the symbol of the republic shows the damage that has been done to the once democratized civilization.
After reading the book I could greater visualize the unfair supremacy of the government through the cover. If I could rename the book, it would be called Indoctrination because of the one point of view that is inflicted upon the people.
